1940 FORD SEDAN 555 BIG BLOCK
This 1940 Ford is an absolute masterpiece!
The owner envisioned a street-legal hot rod that could also compete in land speed racing, and they brought together some of the best builders in the industry to realize that dream.
At the core of this car is a 555 Edelbrock Pat Musi Engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, while a Ford 9" differential handles the power.
The chassis has been boxed and reinforced, complete with a roll bar for added safety. It features fully adjustable coil-over suspension and disc brakes on all four wheels, with precise steering provided by a rack-and-pinion system.
Fuel is delivered by an electric pump to a Quick Fuel carburetor, and a large AFCO aluminum radiator and electric fans keep things cool.
Vintage Air provides the added comfort of air conditioning.
The bodywork is immaculate, currently showcased in a sleek grey epoxy primer finish. In terms of safety, the car is equipped with a period-appropriate roll bar, harness, and a parachute to meet racing standards.
From a distance, the car has a classic charm, but at closer inspection reveals modern components alongside some exceptional Moon Parts.
I took it for a spin around town before the photo shoot and it drove well and was comfortable. It starts easily every time and you’d never know it has over 700 HP! Overall, it starts, runs, and shifts seamlessly, just as it should.
